He shall cover thee with His feathers, and under His wings shalt thou find refuge: His truth is a shield and buckler

Long & Short on Pain

As Christians we would like immunity from pain and suffering where in reality we have only received impunity. The Christian life is not one which guarantees success or wealth or health, it's guarantee lies with the One Who's satisfaction began and ended with a relationship with you. It is not reprisal or punishment which underwrites life's pain, it is the random action of others and the choices of ours which determine life's consequences.

The Christian is not adverse from experiencing anything in life which is not common to all men.

Ecclesiastes 2:1-26

The Vanity of Pleasure

1 I said in my heart, “Come now, I will test you with mirth; therefore enjoy pleasure”; but surely, this also was vanity. 2 I said of laughter—“Madness!”; and of mirth, “What does it accomplish?” 3 I searched in my heart how to gratify my flesh with wine, while guiding my heart with wisdom, and how to lay hold on folly, till I might see what was good for the sons of men to do under heaven all the days of their lives.

Identity; Crisis

July 4th a friend and myself went on a Bike Trip down into Montana.
We were watching the fire works in Troy, when a group of young people in a small SUV drove past us. The driver yells out the window "Anyone who doesn't like America can just f**k off!"

Just 'Say No!"

"people tend to exercise whatever authority they are given.  And, for many people, the only authority they have, is the power to say no."

The absolute defining moment of free-will is that authority.

It is when we can no longer 'Say No!' that we become slaves.

This has a very pregnant meaning when applied to Christian Theology.

Cat's in the Cradle

Cat's in the Cradle is the title of  a 1974 song, sung by Harry Chapin. It tells the story of a father-son relationship. The storyline is of a son who wishes to interact with his Dad, however, his Dad never has the time. The last verse sums up the relationship, when the Dad attempts to interact with his son, who now has no time for him.
